Abstrack

This study aims to determine whether Good Corporate Governance and Corporate Social
Responsibility have a significant and simultaneous effect on Profitability (Return On
Equity). The independent variable used in this study is GCG and CSR towards the
dependent variable Profitability (ROE). The research approach used in this study is the
Associative approach. Where the Associative approach is knowledge that is carried out to
determine the relationship or influence between two or more variables. Samples in this
study amounted to 9 of the 14 Insurance Companies listed on the Indonesia Stock
Exchange in the period 2013-2017. The results of this study are obtained partially Good
Corporate Governance negative and not significant effect on Return On Equity, partially
Corporate Social Responsibility has a negative and not significant effect on Profitability
(Return On Equity), and simultaneously the Good Corporate Governance and Corporate
Social Responsibilitty variables have an effect but not significant on profitability (Return
On Equity) on Insurance companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the
period 2013-2017.
